Our First Lady

Mrs Karen Taylor (Local Women’s Discipleship Ministry Director)

Sister Karen Taylor was born into a Christian family with four other siblings where, the importance of having a strong faith was always encouraged and attended the New Testament Church of God Ladywood (later Brookfield, now The Rock) church.

While growing up she enjoyed participating in Sunday School, youth activities and FTH.  Sister Karen became a born again Christian at the age of 16 and was given the opportunity to be the Assistant Sunday School Secretary and also participated in leading Summer Schemes for children.

She later moved to London to study to become an Occupational Therapist.  This was a great opportunity for her, as she always had a passion to help people to achieve a state of good health, well-being and optimal levels of independence.  She worked for Dudley NHS within medicine and trauma and orthopaedics and has been a qualified Occupational Therapist since 1992.

When she returned to Birmingham, she met and married her loving husband Revd Terence Taylor on 14th August 1993 and together, God has blessed them with three lovely children.  Sister Karen has always supported her husband as he progresses through ministry and works alongside him actively in various roles such as Local Women’s Discipleship Ministry Director, Worship Leader and has also served in the roll of Assistant District Women’s Discipleship Director.

Working within the Women’s Ministry has given her the opportunity to set up events to explore topics that are relevant in today’s communities such as relationships with others, monitoring women’s health and spiritual growth.  Sister Karen is currently working within the Walsall community as an Occupational Therapist and believes that there is a great number of opportunities to engage with the local women to further the work of the Lord.
